Abstract
This report consists of a detailed discussion of the failure analysis of the ALSEP/SIDE/CCGE instrument model ML323-6 (System 8), which failed during tests at MSC, and a presentation of forced arc tests performed on ML323-8 (System 10). The failure analysis and arc tests were conducted with the aim of duplicating and resolving the CCGE 4.5Kv turn-on malfunction exhibited by the CCGE portion of the SIDE/CCGE model ML323-2 (System 4) presently deployed and operating on the lunar surface.
