The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to investigate the low-pressure equilibrium phase relations of a synthetic HT basalt composition as a function of oxygen fugacity (f 0 2), and (2) to develop petrographic criteria for the recognition of phenocrysts which were present in the liquid at the time of eruption. |
