Abstract
Topics discussed include the first substantial results of mineralogical and petrological investigations of the Apollo 14 samples from the Fra Mauro landing site, initial results of investigations of the Apollo 15 samples, and the results of continuing studies of Apollo 11, Apollo 12, and Luna 16 samples. The articles presented cover general geology, surface and orbital observations, investigations of rocks with igneous texture, pyroxenes, plagioclases, breccias, glasses, fines samples, and miscellaneous studies. Other topics considered include chemical analyses of lunar samples, isotopic abundance studies (including radionuclide abundances), thermal volatilization studies, analyses of organogenic compounds and amino acid precursors, lunar atmosphere measurements, magnetic properties of lunar samples (in particular, remanent magnetization), elastic properties of lunar rocks, thermal expansion of lunar samples, viscous flow behavior of lunar compositions, photoemission from lunar surface fines, radiation effects in lunar soils, and thermoluminescence of lunar samples.
